Become a Peer Mentor
Could you be a positive role model and make a real difference in someone’s life?
Being a Peer Mentor is about supporting, encouraging and getting to know others, while helping people discover their strengths, build confidence and work towards their own goals and dreams.
Who can become a Peer Mentor?
To become a Peer Mentor, you must:
- Be 16 years or older.
- Be open-minded, respectful and welcoming towards people with disabilities.
- Have a non-judgemental attitude and treat everyone as an individual.
- Be willing to support and encourage others to achieve their own goals, potential and dreams.
- Be able to recognise and celebrate each person’s talents, strengths and abilities.
- Most importantly, be someone who genuinely wants to make a positive difference.
You don't need to have all the answers. What matters is being a good listener, showing kindness and being willing to learn and support others.
Your expenses are covered
We don't want cost to be a barrier to becoming a Peer Mentor. All reasonable out-of-pocket expenses are covered by the Charity when you are carrying out your role.
This includes expenses when you are out and about with members, such as event tickets, bus fares, refreshments and other agreed activity costs.
Keeping everyone safe
Everyone who becomes a Peer Mentor with Fairway Fife will go through an application process and will be required to complete a Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Check, in line with Government safeguarding standards.
